I was going to download and install vmware just to help you on this, but it's a headache, oversized, only a trial version, and I use Oracles VM VirtualBox which is free, so instead of going through all that I found out from another source.
1. Make sure the CD is in, and is a bootable disk 2. When you power on your guest VM, click your mouse inside the window right away to give your guest focus. Then, hit Esc key to bring up the boot menu.
