To change the LCD density, use the property 'ro.sf.lcd_density'. This can be set during build time in device.mk e.g on Pandaboard: https://android.googlesource.com/device/ti/panda/+/9a1f3257d1f5013ae7dfeb8f2171b777950ab375/device.mk You may also need to tweak the default font size to resolve the cropping text issue.
