Well, PCs aren't exactly know for their security. :-)

Android sandboxes applications from each other, and all communication
between applications can only occur with consent on each side. That differs
from PCs, where any installed application can access any of the data of any
other application. This is why malware and viruses are so common on PCs.

IMHO, PC backup software has the exact same problem. It's well known that
backup programs can backup sensitive data, and data leakage via lost tapes
often occur. Some background links from a quick Google search:

Titanium Backup is no different than a PC backup program. And that's
exactly the problem...

For example, Google had an opportunity to design backups differently. We
have a built in backup solution which backs up your data to the cloud, but
only if you and the application developer consent to it.

http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/backup.html

An application which wants to use Google's backup service has to explicitly
consent to it. We assume all data is confidential unless the application
developer tells us otherwise. As an Android user, you don't have to worry
that Android is shipping your sensitive data off the phone without the
application's consent.

Our security standards are higher for Android than for PC operating systems.
We believe we can do better. And we have an obligation to enforce the
rights of all interested parties.
