I think to have fixed it: I have set all source directories to target/src (since everything is generated anyway)
Cool...glad you fixed it, yeah its because none of the actual source directories (src/java) in the project.xml files existed after you checked into CVS (since it doesn't check in empty directories) therefore maven is confused and thinks there is no source to compile.
