Hi Chad and the others, I wrote a small prototype that shows how to model a metamodel in UML and translate it to a true MOF metamodel in XMI format. Thanks to the folks from the Netbeans MDR team (hey EMF, can you do that, too? No, you can't!) :-)
The prototype is in contrib/metamodels/uml2mof. It contains a small metamodel for XML, just as a demo. It produces a metamodel XMI file and a jar file with the interfaces. I took most of that material from mdr.netbeans.org and re-arranged it a little. Chad: maybe, you can write a model transformation using this new metamodel as a target? Just to show that this works?
