Support for abstract associations in UML?

I posted this issue some time back:
http://galaxy.andromda.org/jira/browse/UMLMETA-56 and part of it has been
resolved in version 3.1 (thanks!), which is the facility to extend from
associations. However the second part of it was to specify that associations
can be abstract (this is part of the UML specification). Is it possible to make
this change in future versions?
