How I assumed it, If I'm using a join query, the result will be an object array instead of an entity. There is fortunately a transform method in the dao that accept Object[] as parameter, which must be overridden in the DAOImpl, else it returns null. This method is called from the common collection transformer.

I'm really amazedly how good the dao's are implemented from andromda.
