Hello,

Ok, but Argo exports xmi. I can even read XMI argo in poseidon comunity edition. It has stereotypes and tagged values. Alas, poseidon is build over Argo, so it should not be that difficult to understand XMI from Argo.
Basically other AndroMDA developer already explained that there isn't a UML 1.4 metafacade at the time. ArgoUML AFAIK only supports UML 1.3.

As a side note the founder of the company behind Poseidon for UML is a former ArgoUML developer. What they did is that they took the source and did some proprietary modifications (e.g. UML 1.4 support). This is at least my current info about the origins of Poseidon for UML.
Another provocative question: Is it intentional to not support free UML tools? That is what worried me from the beginning.
There is no intention at all. The key point here is that I never ever saw a open source project that did initially focus on XMI compliancy. The initial goal of any OS UML tool is to support each UML diagram types first. Export functions aren't implemented in a very early phase of a project's livecycle.
For example take Umbrello ...

They are saving their projects as XML files. The XML content is kinda similar to XMI. But my guess is that you can't use this open source project, because of a missing XMI compliancy.
Maybe MonoUML will be the first open source project with an up-to-date XMI support (UML 2.0/XMI 2.1).

As you can see it would be nice to have some feature rich open source UML tools. But currently the status quo is, that beside ArgoUML there exists no open source tool that would be usefull together with AndroMDA.
