As a result, when I model EJB methods that perform updates and return something, the data is not getting committed to the database. In earlier versions of the hibernate catridge, session.flush was always called before session.close.   From the template HibernateSessionBean.vsl: #if ($operation.returnTypePresent)             return handle${stringUtils.capitalize($operation.name)}($parameters); #else             handle${stringUtils.capitalize($operation.name)}($parameters);             session.flush(); #end     Now I am beginning to wonder..
