Take a look at the Bpm4Struts and the Spring HowTo. You will have to write Service (Spring) that will use the DAO to access the database. From your controllers you will call the services to prepare the data for the front end.
That means that in the controller, instead of using the generated dummy data, you will load real data into the form. Those data come from the service.
