I'd like to model a superclass and a subclass that store all attributes of the
superclass in a

common table with attributes specific to the subclass(es) in their own table.
The superclass

would have a "type" attribute that I want to use to distinguish between the
specific type of

object stored in the database. see: . At the end

of the day, I want to be able to ask for all of the superclasses as well as
being able to ask for

all of a specific subclass. Am I making _any_ sense :-)

I understand hibernate might support this via a discriminator, but I haven't
figured out

how to get this to generate the java/sql I want. Any suggestion appreciated!
Some

examples of various class diagrams would be a great help to newbies as
myself--I mean

class-only diagram models, not full-blown use-case/activity/whatever
diagrams--it is

far easier to drink from a faucet than a fire hydrant :-)

(I understand that the "type" attributes I have in my subclasses don't work with

andromda, but I didn't know any better way to express the intent)

cheers.

  Brent
