Quick update--

Turns out the correct line is "buddy2=bbtoys-ulcd" (i.e. without the digit 7). I also discovered the xinput ipk file and installed that package after trying a new kernel.

I'm now able to get a screen up that has the correct rotation and the pointer tracks left/right as it should. The up/down tracking is still reversed but I'm hoping that will be corrected as well once I find the calibration stuff. Any tips on how to get that going?

Thanks.

Hi Koen--

Thanks for getting back to me. I've only just now gotten back to where I was (I took an unfortunate detour back through 2012.05 that didn't go well). I like the 2012.12-yocto1.3 environment better and things seem to work better for me than before so I'll continue with it!

Regarding the ulcd7...

I added the "buddy2=bbtoys-ulcd7" line as you suggested and that did change the behavior but didn't get everything working just yet. What I get now is the cursor just parks in the middle of the screen and no amount of touching the screen changes its location (previously it would stutter around the top of the screen and still not do anything useful). I was changing my kernel config trying to get rid of useless junk for my setup and while I tried not to remove any touchscreen interface stuff perhaps I removed too much???

Also, under 2012.05 there was the calibration tool (xcalibrate?) but it doesn't appear to be included in my 2012.12 builds. I also forgot how to force the calibration program to run at boot-up.

Thanks!

Two quick questions:

1) Is the angstrom-v2012.12-yocto1.3 branch ready for wide-spread use or
are certain changes still pending?
Almost, mostly small things are still needing to get fixed. I run it for
all my day-to-day work, but I"m biased :)

I recently did a git clone of the
setup scripts and it looks like I got the yocto 1.2 stuff by default.
(I did a checkout to switch to the 2012.12-yocto1.3 branch but wasn't
sure if this was "okay" or if I'll run into trouble later on.)

2) Assuming it's okay to use v2012.12, my ULCD7 screen appears backwards
again. I ran into this problem with 2012.05 and at the time Koen
explained to me what the problem was and/or what to do about it but that
email was accidentally deleted. Is there something I can tweak?
Perhaps I screwed something up in the menuconfig of my kernel (I was
trying to make a smaller and faster image)...???
I think some patches got lost in the shuffle to convert to OE-core. All
beagle* platforms are scheduled to get updated to 3.8 and devicetree,
but xM is at the bottom of that list.
Having said that, try passing the 'buddy2=bbtoys-ulcd7' (double check if
that's the right one) param using uEnv.txt and it should start working.
If that is already in /proc/cmdline, try installing all kernel modules,
the backlight controller also is in charge of rotation (don't ask me
why).

regards,

Koen
