Strange. Presumably you can launch the applications manually without problems? For the mail button this behaviour is expected since opie-mail is not installed by default, but the rest ought to work. This is where the timezone files are missing - you just need to install them. In 1.2.4 it will actually tell you that the timezone is missing rather than just showing UTC as it does now.
