The hostap module since late 2006 has support for the Connect Plus (a card I have). It uses a Prism chipset with firmware.
Plug your card in, and "lsmod" as root. If you see "orinoco" or "hermes" in that module listing, then hostap is being blocked from seeing the card. Rmmod them, remove the modules with ipkg (they're worthless with other cards, I haven't heard anyone needing them given hostap in the kernel now), and try hostap instead with the hostap-utils and prism-firmware. Remember you'll need the wpa-supplicant if you have a WPA encrypted network. Good luck!
