Hi guy's. Thanks for letting me subscribe and help on Handheld Linux OS.
I am new to this so bear with me, i have 4 different IPAQ's that i have been trying to install Linux OS on them since Microsoft hardly supports or provide an good applications or tools for there Handheld OS The reason i decided to subscribe is to be able to install Linux base OS on the following units, hx4700, h5150, h3970 & h5550, i am what most consider an entry level programmer in UNIX environment, i have a electronic degree and i am most comfortable at a hardware level, you guys can use me as a guine pig for testing and trouble shooting installations and applications but i will leave it to the programmers and developers to the hardcore programing. OK, that said, down to business, i original tried OPIE 1.2 on familiar 8.4 stable on h3970 and i was successful in installing it but i still need to set up the network thru USB so i can download of the feeds, the IPKG packages and update OPIE and it's applications, but i have tried to install OPIE 1.2 on H5150 & H5550 and i am getting no wear, i was lucky and was able to install familiar 8.0 bootloader on the h5150 but that's about it, i uploaded the .jffs2 on root and tried to boot up but nothing happens, i get the erasing and addressing but when it boot's the Kernel that the end an s i loose console connection. On the h5550 bootloader never gets installed, i still remains with HP's bootloader, i tried earlier versions of bootloaders but nothing, i was considering to install Angstoms OPIE but i have not found to much information on the installation process, in hopes that can make the h5550 work with OPIE. And i have not yet tried to install nothing yet on the hx4700 (not until i can make the h5550 work since the share a lot of the common resorces of OPIE) So please any pointers will be appreciated in the same token if theres any info or testing i can do for you guy's please let me know and i will do my best to provide any support i can.
