(This is more in the way of archiving than anything else. Maybe it will save someone a few days of frustration.)

For the last few days I've been fighting a battle to get mplayer playing nicely on my zaurus.

So I installed mplayer from the ipk, and got a little script going to transcode my movies for the zaurus.

I ran into some trouble getting mplayer to play within the X11 environment, so I change to vt 1 and play directly on the framebuffer. This worked fine, except after 10 minutes the screen would go blank.

So I spent lots of time screwing around with ipaq-sleep and apm to no avail. Disabled both (renamed the binaries and rebooted) and still, screen would go blank after 10 minutes. Hitting any key would restore the screen - for another 10 minutes.

After having eliminated everything else, I finally figured out that the terminal itself is going blank after 10 minutes. A simple echo -e '\033[9;0]' before I start mplayer cures the problem. GAH!!!
