That's all in the hands of the zaurus developers. I see a lot of
bitching going on, but virtually no actions being taken.
It has been over a year since narcissus was choosen as preferred method
for generating images.
And for all the whining about udev, I have received exactly *zero*
feedback on the udev static patch I posted. One person offered to test.

I also asked (weeks ago!) for newer kexecboot images to be uploaded to
the angstrom site and that also hasn't happened.

I don't expect regular users to come up with patches, but developers can
at least tests the ones that get posted!
