Hi guys,

I am trying to use wireless from command line but nothing is working and I
don't know why.
For example when I create an open Access Point (no encryption) and add this to
my /etc/network/interfaces file:

iface wlan0 inet dhcp
        wireless-essid AndroidAP
        wireless_mode managed

When I try to bring up wlan0 I get this output:

# ifup wlan0

No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

So it seems there is something wrong with the configuration. Running iwconfig
shows me that not even the ESSID is set correctly.
When I use the networkmanager applet from the GUI it works fine so it is not a
general problem.
What am I doing wrong? Is there any thing else I have to do???

Kind Regards

Fabian
