Hi guys, I am trying to use wireless from command line but nothing is working and I don't know why. For example when I create an open Access Point (no encryption) and add this to my /etc/network/interfaces file:
iface wlan0 inet dhcp wireless-essid AndroidAP wireless_mode managed When I try to bring up wlan0 I get this output: # ifup wlan0 Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client 4.1.1-P1 Copyright 2004-2010 Internet Systems Consortium. All rights reserved. For info, please visit https://www.isc.org/software/dhcp/ Listening on LPF/wlan0/1c:45:93:3e:08:da Sending on LPF/wlan0/1c:45:93:3e:08:da Sending on Socket/fallback DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 6 DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 9 DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 11 DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 8 DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 8 DHCPDISCOVER on wlan0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 19 No DHCPOFFERS received. No working leases in persistent database - sleeping. So it seems there is something wrong with the configuration. Running iwconfig shows me that not even the ESSID is set correctly. When I use the networkmanager applet from the GUI it works fine so it is not a general problem. What am I doing wrong? Is there any thing else I have to do??? Kind Regards Fabian _______________________________________________ Angstrom-distro-users mailing list Angstrom-distro-users@linuxtogo.org http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/angstrom-distro-users
