opkg, dpkg and apt are compatible, as I found out. I did play with the 
sources and "opkg update" works just fine.

Yes, I did. They are only available for the eglibc kernel, which I tried 
but could not get working the same way as the standard 2.6.x kernel. I 
tried that, but during the build, all packages except the kernel were 
crossed out.

I've tried to cross-compile them for Arm multiple times but getting 
errors every time, so apparently I'm doing something wrong every time. 
And it still isn't clear to me what the "no valid architecture" means, 
since those packages are for Arm already.
