Hi Sander,

thanks for making me look closer at the documention. Because the first 
sentence from the $http documentation regarding caching made me think that 
caching is disabled by default:

*   ---> To enable caching, set the request configuration cache property 
to true*

But unfortunately IE 8 ( I know, but it is the customer choice) still 
caches the REST call.

I will probably go now with the timestamp approach.
