You should be handling your routes in good MVC fashion:
.when('/contact', {templateUrl:'', controller: blah})
.when('/contact/:contactID', {templateUrl:'', controller:blah})
...
Then the data you want will be in the $routeParams as
$routeParams.contactID.
$scope.editContact = function(contactID) { $location.path('/contact/' +
contactID);};
$scope.getContactDetails = function($routeParams.contactID){
//do your retrieval here
};
