Your date is not a recognized date format, and does not get parsed at al.
try this:

{{lastLogin | date:'EEEE, dd MMMM yyyy @ HH:mm:ss Z'}}
</span>
<br>
<span ng-init="lastLogin1='2014-02-27 22:54:35 +0100'">
{{lastLogin1 | date:'EEEE, dd MMMM yyyy @ HH:mm:ss Z'}}
</span>
And you will see the difference
