not sure why that is happening for this and does seem as though it could be related to my issue. Angular seems to (when using animate) duplicate the views albeit temporarily to provide a seemless transition between the 2 views. I am seeing that in my app these extra views are not getting removed. Without a cleaned up example its hard to see more - either get something simpler online with the source code or put it on git.
