You need an new scope, not an isolated scope.

Before version 1.2 there was a bug that leaked the isolated scope to the 
inside. This bug is fixed!
And isolated scope, means that the scope is isolated to your directive, and 
can't be seen elsewhere, unless you provide the means for that.
As there is no more leakage into the containing children, from 1.2 on, the 
isolated scope is finally truly isolated. This is a good thing, however, it
may take a while for you to see this ;)
