Hi Lucian, 1 is possible, but my preference would go to 2. Did you look at the plunk I made up for you? It clearly shows how the get the rating value in the controller! There are several ways to solve your problem, the easiest is just watching the scope variable where the rating is. another possibility is, define a callback in your directive. I just changed the plunk to support this too.
