Ok I found the solution.
I was just missing a $scope.$root.$digest(), which is mandatory when
testing promises.
The test now looks like that and works fine:
it('should set timeline creation title', function() {
controller.setTitle();
$scope.$root.$digest();
expect($scope.title).toBe('Create timeline');
});
