Hi Dave,

hmm, no not really. The other way around is more accurate. 
ng-model watches the DOM to update the scope.  It does put
the value in the DOM and then watches for changes. 
also ng-model is responsible for validations and some
other things.
I understand your simplification, but it's just too simple ;)
