A ngClick <https://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng/directive/ngClick>is quite different from an (ng)Href <https://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng/directive/ngHref>. you are passing in the literal string '/route3/:{{checkin}}/:{{checkout}}' as a parameter to your checkAvailability function.
