Hi,
The event handler (the .$on) is part of the $scope chain.
You can keep on using $scope.$on('eventName',
functionToHandleEventForControllerAsController)
As long as you are using the scope, just for stuff like this, and nowhere
else, you still are following the new angular way.
I'm not sure why you have a $parent in there, usually it does not make any
difference.
