Hi Jay,

While it is possible to do what you ask, it's not something I would 
recommend. An open dialog is a form of state. State should be kept in 
services, or in controllers (usually not). You should be able to look at 
your (state)data, and deduct whatever you need from there. Reading out the 
DOM to figure out what state your program/data is in, is kind of backwards 
facing in my opinion.
