I figured a sample might help you.

    return {
        restrict: 'A',
        require: 'ngModel',
        link: function (scope, elem, attrs, ctrl) {
            ctrl.$formatters.push(function (value) {
                return value ? parseFloat(value) : null;
            });
        }
    };


angular
  .module('someModule',[])
  .directive('toNum', toNum)

Should be able to fix the number issue
