The subject sums it up but to go in further detail, the default filter 
angular provides is great and works. The problem is when dropdowns are 
thrown into the mix to be filtered by their text, this breaks the filter 
since it only searches for the "value" attribute of elements on the page. 
There has to be a solution to this somewhere but i can't find it after days 
of research and trial of error. Below is the link to my stackoverflow post 
but no answers or suggestions yet. Any help or direction is better than 
silence at this point! Thanks
