If you have 4 months until production, go with 1.x. Have a look at 
ngForward, that let's you code like it's 2.x.
All you have said is true. Ng1 is a stable platform to build upon. Ng2 is a 
different story, it is still very much beta, which is not even it's biggest 
issue. the framework itself is reasonably stable. However, it needs quite 
some (build) tools that are not so stable, and a couple of required 
libraries, that are even less stable. It is usable already for prototypes, 
and small apps that are non-critical. But a production app? I would not bet 
my job on it ;)
