Hi Jo,

Please don't try to solve it like this. in this case jQuery is not the
solution. Have a look at the @viewChild, try something like this:

import {Component, Viewchild} from 'angular2/core';
import {Observable} from 'rxjs/Rx';

@Component({
    selector: 'my-app',
    template: `
            <input #myInput id="search" type="text" class="form-control"
placeholder="Search for artists">
    `
})
export class AppComponent {
    @Viewchild('myInput') myInput
    constructor(){}

    ngOnInit() {
        var keyups = Observable.fromEvent(myInput, "keyup");
        keyups.subscribe(data => console.log(data));
    }
}

(typed up in here, so it might not work the first time around, but it
should get you going!)

Regards
Sander
