Modules are here to divide your app into chunks of related code. When you have an app that grows, it's easier to manage smaller pieces, so modules are used to group those things together. For example, in a sales app, you have a customer, an invoicing and a products part. (and probably some more) Those chunks can also be used by the router to split up routing for similar reasons.
