I have two components, a toolbar and a dataTable. I want to create a search bar which opens on click on the search icon in the toolbar. I was thinking of using MatFormField and MatInput within the menu and search icon or instead using an overlay which pops up on click. Does anyone have esperience regarding this which might be the better solution if you consider connecting the search bar to the data service of the data table?
