Dear all anima, chairs, At IETF99, we presented an asynchronous communication model in the slides “Towards PubSub and Storage Integration in ANIMA”. Keeping in mind the whole picture of ANI, there are potentially many use cases in which such an asynchronous communication mechanism is needed.
One type of use cases is communication with an AF that takes long time to respond, (e.g., it performs a time consuming database lookup). Another type of use cases is storing and sharing information in ANI. For example, as AFs play a key role in self-managing the network, it is critical that multiple AFs can make correct decisions even when their local information is asymmetric. Likewise, how to store synthetic data (e.g. statistic info, like average values of several AFs, etc.) in an autonomic way is also challenging. This calls for a scalable, common, yet distributed data layer, on which AFs can efficiently store and share information. These two types of use cases are just examples. We sincerely appreciate any comments on them, as well as suggestions about new use cases. In any case, we are hoping for a discussion that can help us to converge to a potential work item. Please send your request for agenda by Oct 27th, Thursday. Giving that most of our chartered work items have been sent to IESG for publication by the meeting, we expect short time slots for them. For this coming meeting, we would like to discuss potential future ANIMA works. The chairs did send a “calling new works and discussion” mail (URL below) to the mailing list, in which three categories of potential works that may be interested by the group are mentioned. https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/anima/current/msg03019.html As normal, the priority among these non-charter work items would be: these that have active discussion in mail list, then these have submitted drafts, and topics without drafts. Please send us (anima-chairs at ietf.org<https://ietf.org/>) requests for time slot by October 27th, Thursday and include: Name of time slot: Name of draft(s): Time requested: Presenter name(s): More details about the IETF 100, Singapore can be found at: http://www.ietf.org/meeting/100/index.html Again, presenters and draft authors please invoke active discussions in the ANIMA list. We have very limited time for each topic in the face-to-face meeting. Mail list is a very good place to discuss and reach consensus on technical issues. Best regards, Toerless & Sheng
