Hi Tim,

there was a thread [0] and a ticket [1] opened about this issue, that
popped out first on Windows.
I solved it upgrading rpy2 with the most recent version available on
SourceForge.
If you use OSGeo4W installer, you can upgrade python-rpy2 package from
there, the problem disappeared as reported by Giovanni Manghi on the
wiki page of the plugin [2]. The wiki is migrating on
http://www.qgis.org/qgis-wiki so stay tuned, that link will need update
soon.
Please use Trac to report any further problem. Feel free to reopen the
ticket and add the output of the commands suggested by Paolo.
