Hey Amanda!

I saw your name on the list this morning, and I have updated the ASF level
proposal with the list that was available about 30 minutes ago. :)

https://wiki.apache.org/incubator/AnnotatorProposal#line-249

I’m not sure yet what the time frame is for this moving to a final vote—or what
else will need discussion, but I do believe we’re on the right track and it’s
just a matter of time (as ever ;) ).

Thanks for joining in, Amanda!
Benjamin

Hello, all!

I'm also interested in involvement as a committer. (I've added my name to the
wiki page—if that seems okay, Benjamin, would you be willing to add me to the
ASF-level list?).

I also haven't yet committed directly to Annotator, but I've built off it
(Drupal module adding annotation social mechanics) and would like to be more
actively involved now that my job supports doing so.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I?ve begun the actual proposal process at the ASF:
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-general/201605.mbox/%3CCY1PR0601MB1643A5AE6ED5C54BE3EB2055B2460%40CY1PR0601MB1643.namprd06.prod.outlook.com%3E
Short URL: http://bit.ly/1PfRtWu

Discussion now happens among the Incubator Project Management Committee?on that
list. You?re welcome to subscribe and follow along. Mostly, we?re looking for
~3 mentors and a handful of +1?s to move on to the voting stage:
http://incubator.apache.org/incubation/Process_Description.html#Establishment

Once voting completes, then we?ll be a genuine ?Podling? and be setup with
various infrastructure to get the community setup within the ASF. Then?we be us
at the ASF for about 3-6 months, prove we?re ?healthy? (i.e. can collaborate
real good), and if we can prove that, we become a ?top level? ASF project.
Huzzah! :)

I?ll keep everyone posted here, but feel free to follow along on the incubator
list if you care to.

Cheers!
Benjamin

Hi all!

Last July I wrote up a proposal for potentially setting up an Apache Software
Foundation incubator project for the community and code here.

The goal then (as now) was to bring all the interested parties into a shared,
collaborative space where we could continue the vision of and progress on
Annotator and related code.

Thanks, Benjamin.
To that end, I?ve done a (somewhat heavy) revision of the original proposal:
https://github.com/openannotation/annotator/wiki/Apache-Incubation-Proposal

This revision focuses more on our diverse community and working to ensure its
longevity.

Give that proposal a quick skim, and send in your feedback!

Looks good.

Hi Benjamin and Oliver,

does it still make sense to add my name to the initial committers list?
I don't have code in annotator.js but I have a small annotator plugin
and annotation-related code in digilib. Can I use the MPI for History of
Science I am working for as affiliation?

Or is there another list for people that are interested in collaborating
but don't have code in annotator.js?

Thanks
        Robert

You're more than welcome to add your name to the list on the GitHub wiki--ping
me when you're done and I'll get your name added to the ASF-level one.

One of the core hopes here is to get more active committers and to also
rally/wrangle all the various plugins into the same space, so we can grow them
together. It would be ideal, in fact, for you to join the committers list,
contribute your plugins (assuming that's your plan ;) ), and help move all of
this forward.

In short, not having code already in annotator.js is not a blocker by any means.

Sound good?
Benjamin
