Dear Colleagues,

AFRINIC, the Regional Internet Registry for Africa in collaboration with the 
Nigeria ICT Forum and Bandwidth Consortium just concluded a four (04) day IPv6 
and Internet Number Resources Management training course in Abuja. 

The event that took place from 5 to 8 August, was held at Consortium Office, in 
Abuja, Nigeria and led by Mukom Akong Tamon, Trainer for AFRINIC. 

This training falls under AFRINIC's Capacity Building program which aims to 
help network engineers in AFRICA better plan and manage Internet number 
resources and IPv6 networks.

 The course was attended by 30 network engineers, systems administrators and IT 
Managers drawn from the telecommunications and Internet service organisations, 
as well as National agencies, colleges and universities. 

We wish to extend our appreciation to the Nigeria ICT Forum and Bandwidth 
Consortium for hosting this workshop and making it a success.


 



 Highlights of this Training:

                - Skills necessary for Network Operators to prepare for the 
transition from IPV4 to IPV6          

                - Provide qualitative training for those engineers that managed 
networks thus providing the knowledge to tackle the problem of quality of 
service in the telecommunication industry

                - Network Engineers acquire knowledge to compete favorably with 
their counterpart in the global market.

                - Enhance the performance of Network Engineers on network 
management with the ultimate goal of ensuring the sustainable growth of the 
Nigerian Telecom Industry.

                - Boost the productivity level of the network engineers.
