Dear AFRINIC Community,
Following the ASO review consultation and the presentation by the CEO at the
AIS 2018 meeting in Dakar, AFRINIC’s representatives on the ASO AC/NRO NC have
been asked to lead a community process to develop AFRINIC’s response to the ASO
review.
The feedback on the ASO Review report outlined 18 recommendations which the NRO
has resolved to accept. The first 17 recommendations are expected to be
non-controversial and straightforward to implement by the NRO Secretariat, or
the ASO Address Council (ASO AC).
The 18th recommendation and the reason for this process, is that “The NRO
should initiate a public consultation, involving the five RIR communities, to
determine the future structure of the ASO.”

We hope to provide a report by the end of July 2018 or mid-August at the
latest.

Chère communauté d’AFRINIC,
Suite à la consultation de l'ASO et à la présentation du DG lors de la réunion
de l'AIS 2018 à Dakar, les représentants d'AFRINIC sur l'ASO AC / NRO NC ont
été invités à diriger un processus communautaire pour la formulation de la
réponse d'AFRINIC suite à l'examen de l'ASO.
Les commentaires sur le rapport de l’examen de l'ASO décrivent 18
recommandations que la NRO a décidé d'accepter. Les 17 premières
recommandations devraient être non controversées et simples à mettre en œuvre
par le Secrétariat du NRO, ou de l'ASO AC.
La 18e recommandation et la raison de ce processus, est que « la NRO devrait
lancer une consultation publique, impliquant les cinq communautés RIR, pour
déterminer la structure future de l'ASO».
Nous vous invitons tous à discuter et à commenter dans la liste de discussion
de la communauté. Nous espérons fournir un rapport d'ici la fin juillet 2018 ou
la mi-août au plus tard.
