Apache Axis2/C is a high-performance web services framework written in C. Version 2.0.0 adds HTTP/2, JSON-RPC, Android support, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) for AI assistant integration, while maintaining backward compatibility with legacy SOAP services. This is the first release since 1.6.0 (2009), representing 17 years of development including 115+ resolved issues.
