Dear colleagues
Are you planning to attend Ocean Sciences March 2-7, 2008? Perhaps
the session described below is in line with your interests. Please
submit your abstract before Oct. 2.

Title: Oceanic Observations and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
Description
Studies of oceanic observations addressing the fundamental
principles of geophysical fluid dynamics (GFD) are sought. Previous
such comparisons have stimulated theoretical work and have led to
novel methods of data interpretation. Traditional topics include
Rossby wave propagation, eddy-mean-flow interaction, topographic
effects, energy cascades, zonal jets, turbulent dispersion and the
general circulation. Creative new uses of data are also encouraged,
as are modeling studies that involve the application of GFD to
realistic flows and idealized studies that make observable predications.
