The computer give away project has been fairly successful so far. We've now built *19* decent machines and sold off the first 5 last Saturday on a "pay what you can basis" where we made $25. The remainder are being given away on a "free" basis.

Feel free to lend a hand to help me finish the job. There are computers, imaged hard drives, and RAM ready to under go final build steps in the room that surrounds the back elevator. You can turn on the light by turning on the light in the adjasant big, back "dirty" workshop. (the one with all the old shelves).

Get folks you know who'd like machines to contact me.

5 easy steps to cranking out computers:
1) Put one of my pre-imaged Lubuntu 12.04 hard drives into a machine, connect it up.

2) Ensure there is at least 512M of RAM, run the memtest option from the bootloader GRUB. You only need to complete a few tests, not the entire pass.

3) Boot up my Lubuntu 12.04 image, log in with password: userpass, confirm that YouTube works under the already installed Google Chrome. (works only with appropriate video acceleration)

4) Label the machine with the username (user) and password (userpass),

5) Leave it against the wall in the classroom (the big black cabinet is now full with 14 of them!)

I'll be managing Freecycle based giveaways on Saturday and fixing up any other machines remaining.
