There will be an election at this coming Tuesday's meeting. We are voting to fill one vacant seat on our board.
By now everyone who is eligible to vote in next Tuesday's election should have received a voting code. If you have not and feel that you should have, please contact me off-list asap. Many people have asked for some biographical information on the candidates. Three members have let their names stand (and have provided the following bio's, which I have included unedited): Jon Graham: I am a software coach, amateur paintballer, raid guild leader, former network administrator, school president, hacker and entrepreneur. My first visit to Skullspace was for an open data hackathon where I received free bacon and met a bunch of cool people. It is the people at Skullspace that bring me back, and it is for them that I am running for the board. I hope that my experience and enthusiasm will compliment the board and the rest of my friends at Skullspace. Thank you for your consideration, -Jon ‘NewJon' Graham Zoë Rose: Biography not provided. Jay Smith: Born in Manitoba's frigid North and raised with an affinity for writing about himself in third person, Jay has been contributing to SkullSpace since the Lo Pub days. He was there to help write the initial by-laws, but he will admit that Mak actually did most of the work. He was there until 4am building walls and constructing doors for the original SkullSpace, but he will admit that Mak actually did most of the work there too. He is a founding member of BSides Winnipeg, of which Mak and three others also did a good amount of the work. He served as a director and treasurer on the 2012 board, and will proudly say that Mak had less to do with the work for once. Jay has helped steer SkullSpace through some challenges during his time on the board, and he always got the job done - unless he could get Mak to do it instead. Seriously though, I'm an Infosec guy and a former SkullSpace board member (Treasurer back when we had titles) who's looking forward to getting back into things. My favourite achievements so far involve maintaining a safe financial buffer through expensive renovations, forming the strike force that found the initial space, and saving the pink chair in the lounge from destruction at the hands of Justin Lacko. Mostly, I'm just this guy, you know? Nathan 'The righteous hammer of democracy' Wild Acting electoral officer
