My Friends,

Last June, the Libertarian Party of Virginia decided to sponsor an information table at this event. Due to the very generous support of Libertarians around the state of Virginia, the LPVA State Fair Booth project is a GO.

The Virginia State Fair is from September 25 October 5. This will be the last Virginia State Fair at the old Fair facility in Richmond. And the Libertarian Party of Virginia is gong to be there -- thanks to you. We couldn't have done this without our donors. Because of YOUR donations in response to our letter, we have:

        - paid for the booth space;

        - paid for the electric;

        - paid for passes for our volunteers;

        - purchased some literature; and

        - covered the cost of the letter we sent you.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP.

NOTE: The only expense we don't yet have covered is for a part-timer to staff the booth for any hours for which there are no volunteers. Naturally, most Libertarians are productive, working folks with day jobs, so the Booth Committee expects to hire spot daytime coverage. Your family has to eat, after all! If you'd like to chip in for that, all donations would be most welcome:

Be sure to include a note to our Treasurer that your donation is "for the State Fair Booth" when you get to the screen that has the box for "additional comments".

=================================================

Our goal is to generate 500 or more new prospect names, and to begin following-up with them in the same week. How many names we actually collect will depend largely upon how well we get the booth covered with volunteer staff. For instance, if just one person is there, a good day's work will net 30 or so new names -- so we really need two or THREE people there all day. These names will be uploaded to the national LP on a daily basis. We will also be dividing them up based where they live within Virginia so we can distribute them to our local parties across Virginia.

However, no matter how well the booth is staffed, and no matter how many names of prospective Libertarians we actually end up collecting, we will get a lot of good exposure. By promoting our candidates (Bill Redpath for US Senate, Nathan Larson for 1st District US House, and Bob Barr for President) at the booth, we will be helping to earn the best possible vote totals on Election Day.

Now, the finishing touch is that we need YOU to help staff our booth. To be truly effective, we should have two or three people staffing the booth at all times. Our booth volunteers will:

        - administer the World's Smallest Political Quiz to fair-goers;

        - administer a "Quiz2D" computerized equivalent;

        - distribute LP literature;

        - distribute Redpath, Barr, and Larson literature; and

        - ask people if they would like more information about
                the Libertarian Party mailed to them.

If you would like to invest some of your time helping us "spread the word", please call me at 703-715-6230, or write me via <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> as soon as possible, so I can put you on the schedule for any hours you are available.

The booth volunteer schedule is here:

Jon Walker is the on-site Booth Coordinator. He is available to answer questions on volunteering, how to get in, where to park, and all the other details. He will also be conducting training classes for booth volunteers. Contact Jon also via <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

SPECIAL NOTE: There are one or two Richmonders who are willing to provide guest rooms or crash space to anyone coming in from out of town who will help out at the booth for at least two days. If you anticipate needing a place to stay, by all means, let me know.

P.S. If you would like more information about the Fair, visit their web site at http://www.StateFairVa.org . You can also view their vendor manual at http://www.statefair.com/vendor/pdf/2008ConcessionManual.pdf .

P.P.S. Remember, if we don't have enough volunteer staff to attend the booth at all times, we can LOSE the booth. Either donate some of your time, or contribute to the booth fund so that we can cover all hours for which we have no volunteers with a paid staffer. So don't forget to donate:
