1. The Big Lie, Writ Large
================================================

The reason that the Federal Government is in a period of hyper-growth is, of
course, "market failure" and the Bush administration's gutting of the
Regulatory Regime.

Here are some numbers for your next Georgetown cocktail party. In point of
fact, since 2001, the SEC's budget for regulation has gone from $423,000,000 to
$913,000,000. Since 2004, the Federal Reserve's line item for "Supervisory,
Regulatory, and Legal Services" went from $172,000,000 to $232,000,000. So if
Uncle S hasn't been regulating, it's not because he wasn't spending the money.

2. Budget Transparency bill, inexplicably, moves forward
================================================

It's hard, here in Patrick Henry's own state, to not smell a rat. Still, SB
936, patroned by Sen. Ken Cuccinelli, and HB 2285, patroned by Del. Ben Cline
would put the Virginia Budget online in a searchable form. It's headed for the
governor's desk, due to be signed by March 30.

3. I'm a Terrorist, She's a Terrorist, He's a Terrorist, wouldn't you like to
be a Terrorist, too?
================================================

Among the warning signs of a domestic terrorist, according to the Fusion
Center, an unholy alliance between Homeland Security and the Missouri State
Police, are bumper stickers for Ron Paul, Bob Barr, or the Campaign for
Liberty. You can follow the link in the story to a scanned copy of the flyer
they put out.

5. 'Virginia Liberty' - Help Wanted!
================================================

After almost five years of editing Virginia Liberty, some fresh eyes on the
product are needed. In truth, the editor hasn't been happy with the paper's
graphic presentation for some time; a product of the fact that he admits having
no formal training in publication design. And in this day and age of
attractive and sophisticated print presentation, 'Virginia Liberty' needs some
better design.

The Libertarian Party of Virginia **must** continue to publish a print
newsletter. It is one of the few real, non-electronic contacts we make with
many of our fellow members. Email is a great supplemental contact method, but
it isn't a substitute for something you can hold in your hands.

If you have some experience with desktop publishing and would like to take on
production of (at least) a two-page newsletter (or small tabloid like 'Virginia
Liberty' has been since 2004), please get in touch as possible. Call Marc
Montoni at home at 804-288-2766, or via email at <[email protected]>.
