Candidates Wanted! ================================================ Let's get right to it: We're looking for a Few Good Candidates. To get started, visit http://Campaign.LPVA.com and let us know! And don't forget, I'm still looking for the right local campaign to drop a few nickels on: http://freevirginia.blogspot.com/2010/08/1000-challenge.html I published the list of the offices up for election next year in the last issue: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00238.html Today, I'm making a new challenge in addition to my old one: "The first five candidates for public office who get on the ballot and are properly endorsed by their district LP members will get an automatic $50 donation from me." That's my pledge. You don't have to do all that stuff I have listed for the $1,000 challenge; instead, you just have to get endorsed, run for a *local* office, and get on the ballot. That's IT! How much easier can it be? Remember to visit http://Campaign.LPVA.com ================================================ 2. Man's House is His Castle... ================================================ Except when it's not. Madison County officials are preparing to throw Dick Thompson off of his own 39 acres: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8ImPdMyppM This looks like a great issue for the 7th district Libertarians, or the JAL, to attack head-on. Madison County motto: We'll take your 40 acres, *and* your mules. ================================================ 3. Did You Realize the Feds Now License the Movement of Citizens? ================================================ >>Under the Secure Flight program, the TSA demands that passengers >>submit personal information 72 hours before being cleared to fly. >>While on the surface, this is justified by invoking the threat of >>terror, as we have seen from the MIAC report and others, the federal >>government now considers politically active Americans as potential >>terrorists, meaning that innocent travelers could find themselves on a >>watch list and barred from flying. >> >> By combining the requirement for government photo IDs in order to >>fly with checking government watchlists including potentially every >>passenger, Secure Flight puts the federal government into the >>business of licensing travel, warns Michael Ostrolenk. >> >> What the government can allow one day, it can forbid the next. >>All things considered, isnt this a higher-tech and later-day version >>of South African domestic passports or eastern European checkpoints? >>In fact, because of the high technological capacity of the U.S. >>version, arent its implications for travel control of plane, train, >>bus and subway travel much more far reaching? Its incredible that >>something like this is happening relatively unrecognized in America. >> >>Indeed, the 9/11 Commission demanded that the dubious no fly list be >>extended to trains, boats and basically every form of travel, handing >>the feds the power to control the mobility of millions of Americans. >>Rahm Emanuel and Mayor Michael Bloomberg have also demanded that >>people on the no fly list be prevented from purchasing firearms. I don't [normally] listen to / read Alex Jones or Michael Ostrolenk, but someone pointed this out to me and they've both nailed it 100%. Read the entire article here: http://www.prisonplanet.com/tsa-caves-on-pat-downs-but-mandates-government-permission-for-all-fliers.html#comment-961174 The one factual error is the title of the article. The TSA hasn't "caved". All of the demeaning procedures remain in place. All the TSA has said it would do is review those procedures. ================================================ 4. Feds Screw Up a False-Flaggie ================================================ You know that intercepted "bomb" from Namibia that was in the news a couple of weeks ago? Turns out it was a device manufactured in the United States, to government spook spec's: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/20/world/europe/20germany.html?_r=1 Some reports have it coming from the Namibian polizei as part of a security test, although now the Namibians are saying "it wasn't us". So some 'crat go his jollies last week terrorizing people in Germany (where the plane the device would have been on, had it not been intercepted, was headed) and everywhere. There *is* a way to reduce the risk of terrorist attack. - Adopt a noninterventionist foreign policy. - Abolish the TSA. - Abolish federal police forces. - Demilitarize all government paramilitary agencies. - End federal regulation of airlines, including all regulations prohibiting law-abiding Americans from carrying in airports and on planes; let that be an issue between them and the airlines. - Allow airlines and airport owners to assume full liability or security. The best part is all that would be a lot cheaper than expanding the national socialist security state. ================================================ 5. MARYLAND STATE HERO: Jason Cokinos Subtitle: You Mundanes Are Only Worth $185. ================================================ Just over the border in the People's Republic of Maryland, officer Jason Cokinos was allegedly doing 56 in a 30 zone ran over 12-year-old Luis Jovel Jr. while on an emergency run to the donut shop back in 2008: http://www.lineofduty.com/the-blotter/109746-fair-penalty-for-md-cop-who-hit-paralyzed-boy OK, no, really, he was on his way to his second job. I say "allegedly doing 56" because I've been a car buff and auto mechanic in my past life, as well as an autocrosser. This article http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local-beat/Cop-Who-Hit-Boy-Fined-185-109149734.html says "[Cokinos] slammed on his brakes about 40 feet before he hit Jovel, but an accident reconstruction report concluded the Ford Crown Victoria was still going 46 mph at the time of impact." Ford Crown Vic brakes are very good -- they're heavy-duty, 4-wheel discs, with sticky, $250 police spec tires in all four corners. If Cokinos was applying full brake for 40 feet, but was still going 46 by the time he hit young , then deceleration math http://www.csgnetwork.com/stopdistcalc.html strongly suggests Cokinos was doing more than 56. Let's put it this way. Here's a road test of a high-performance car from 1971 -- and this car made a stop from 50 mph in 98 feet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga6gjaEyMrA&feature=related . See the review of brake performance at about 3:19. The brakes on a 2005 Crown Vic are worlds better, the tires are much better, and so on. I think if Cokinos had really been going 56, and applied the brakes for 40 feet, he should have been able to rub off a lot more speed. Maryland law sets the bar at double the posted speed limit for a criminal negligence charge, and it just so happens that the PD thinks he was going a few miles under that threshold. Something doesn't pass the smell test there. But I digress. Anyway, after a bench trial in front of fellow government bureaucrat (Montgomery County District Court judge Marielsa A Bernard), Cokinos was pronounced 'not guilty' of negligent driving or contributing to an accident (more proof that a law degree doesn't necessarily translate to the ability to read plain english). Cokinos did plead guilty to driving 26 miles-per-hour over the limit and he paid a $185 fine, including a $25 court fee. http://washingtonexaminer.com/maryland/2010/11/montco-settles-family-boy-paralyzed-speeding-police-officer http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1331389/Police-officer-fined-185-speeding-crash-paralysed-teen-boy.html?ito=feeds-newsxml To see the gist of this story on video, take a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94UJGdv1J1o The court case materials are online here: http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiryDetail.jis?caseId=322599V&loc=68&detailLoc=MCCI SOLUTION: Private-sector emergency services, including security/police. Full *personal* liability for one's actions while employed by the state. Open government records on personnel matters. ================================================ 6. Welcome to the Caste System in the USA ================================================ [EDITOR'S NOTE: This was such an engaging comment I just have to share it. The original can be found here: http://jonathanturley.org/2010/11/18/montgomery-police-officer-given-185-ticket-after-paralyzing-14-year-old-boy/#comment-174771 . Enjoy!] >>By "ekeyra" >> >>Your ascendants left England to, among other reasons, escape the caste >>system. Your ascendants were locked into a system in which there was >>no upward mobility. They were stuck as peasants in a system that >>considered them inferior and did not recognize their rights as human >>beings, but instead assigned them limited privileges based on their >>low caste. The severity of a crime was determined by not just by the >>crime itself, but by the difference in caste between the offender and >>offended. >> >>Guess what; we put you back into a caste system here in the USA, and >>you didnt even notice. You dont believe me? Consider assault. >> >>Assault is a crime. We at the government usually choose to enforce >>laws against assaulting US citizens. Assault against a person higher >>up in the caste system is prosecuted much more aggressively. Commit >>assault against a police officer or other government employee, and we >>will show you exactly how aggressively we enforce the law and >>prosecute those who commit crimes against us. Our new royalty, those >>persons holding or who have held high public offices, often enjoy the >>protection of law enforcement personnel who exist specifically to >>protect them. Look up the many laws against assaulting government >>employees and see how broadly assault is defined. >> >>Now, consider assault against a citizen by a police officer. The vast >>majority of police brutality events are never prosecuted because the >>prosecution (government) tends to favor its own (government) people, >>including police officers. There are laws in place exempting police >>officers from what would normally be considered an unprovoked violent >>assault. Roughing up a suspect during an arrest is even encouraged >>at times. We at the government are one big happy family. >> >>The caste system in the USA is as follows: >> >>1st caste: Politicians and elected officials. They enjoy the highest >>degree of legal protection and privilege for life. >> >>2nd caste: Government employees. They generally live >>comfortable lives with secure lifetime income at the >>expense of the 3rd caste. They also enjoy significant >>legal protection. >> >>3rd caste: US private citizens. This is the labor caste. Their work is >>responsible for all economic productivity. Every >>other caste is dependant on the taxes extorted from them. >> >>4th caste: Inmates. This consists almost entirely of members >>of the 3rd caste who were demoted by members of the 2nd caste >>acting under the laws made by the 1st caste. >> >>You have been conditioned by us to accept the above terms. Imagine how >>you would react to seeing a fleeing person suspected of theft tackled >>on pavement and placed forcefully under arrest. Now imagine your >>reaction if the arresting person was a Wal-Mart employee tackling and >>restraining someone he thought was a shop lifter. Your government >>given bias allows the police officer to "do his job," but you would >>never allow one of your own to do the same. Welcome to the caste >>system. You know your place and you fit right in. >> >>Did you know your president is permitted to assassinate human beings >>at will? Thats right, the days of the Kings ability to arbitrarily >>kill you are back. He is now free to order the deaths of US Citizens >>at will, without a conviction, due process, or even an accusation. ================================================ 7.
