Dear Colleagues, Your state committee invites you to attend a State Convention on April 21, 2013! This is a special convention called for the purpose of considering whether to formally endorse a Libertarian candidate for Governor. The convention will be held in Waynesboro, Virginia, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., in the Waynesboro City Council Meeting Room.
Rob Sarvis has declared his interest in our endorsement; however, he must first be accepted by YOU. The state committee cannot make this choice; it is up to the members. So mark your calendar! VOTING ELIGIBILITY: According to Article V, Section 2 of the LPVA Constitution: "Only those persons who are currently members of the Libertarian Party of Virginia, and who have been members of the Party for at least thirty days within the previous twelve months, shall be granted the right to vote at conventions." AUTHORITY: This call to convention is authorized by Article V, SECTION 4 of the LPVA Constitution. 2. SCC CANNOT ENDORSE. The LPVA state committee has NOT taken any position on the candidate. The process is still wide open, and there are *no* roadblocks in place against anyone else who wishes to seek our endorsement. 3. "NONE OF THE ABOVE" or "NOTA" is always a valid and recognized choice in all internal Libertarian Party elections. 4. If *anyone* else wishes to seek our endorsement for Governor, Lt. Governor or Attorney General, we will publicize them in advance of this convention on an equal basis. 5. LAST CHANCE -- There is not enough time to call another endorsement meeting for candidates after 4/21.
