Dear colleagues: I hope all is well with you. I am writing to provide some information to you concerning the 2014 Libertarian Party of Virginia State Convention, to take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Hilton Garden Inn Richmond Airport (441 International Center Drive in Sandston).
1) If you wish to book a room at the hotel, please be aware that the special guest room rate at the hotel may not be available after today. Specifically, as of today the rate for a guest room (single or double occupancy) on either Feb. 7 or Feb. 8 is $80.00 per night, plus 13.3% tax. This rate is guaranteed only until the end of today, after which rooms may no longer be available at the special rate. His announcement has already generated a substantial number of media articles. Hence, I suspect that the convention will draw a nontrivial amount of media attention. While I always want as many LPVa members as possible in attendance at our conventions, it would be especially nice to have as many attendees as possible at this convention. Prices for convention packages are as follows: Full Package (all events): $75.00 Basic Package (all events except luncheon): $40.00 LPVa members may attend the business session at no charge. Convention registration will begin on Feb. 8 at 8:30 a.m. The convention will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the business session will take place between 9:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The business session will have the following items on the agenda: * Consideration of proposed constitutional changes * Election of officers (chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer) * Endorsement of candidate for U.S. Senate * Election of delegates to the 2014 national convention * Consideration of resolutions A buffet luncheon will be available between 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The afternoon session will take place from 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. It will begin with an address by Robert Sarvis, 2013 LPVa gubernatorial candidate.
